This is a photo of what the city I live in, Patras Greece, looks like when decorated for Christmas.
I keep complaining every year that Christmas comes and goes too quickly. It wasn’t up until now that I realized that I’m the one to blame for this.
You see, I don’t do much each year for Christmas. I don’t decorate too much, I don’t cook all the seasonal foods that should be cooked, I don’t go places, I don’t do enough.
And I know what you’re thinking, why are you making such a big deal about this? Well you know what, I believe Christmas is an opportunity for hope. It’s an opportunity to leave aside all the ugly things that may be bringing you down and remember that there’s more to life than just the anxiety of work and paying bills. Life is also about coming together, friends and family, and enjoying a hot cup of coco around a fireplace. It’s about knowing that in the end, everything will be alright.
So, whether you’re religious or not, I believe we should all take an opportunity during Christmas to appreciate the little things we have, regardless of where we are or where we would like to be in life.
